dxpc is an X protocol compressor designed to improve the speed of X11 applications run over low-bandwidth links (such as dialup PPP connections). The README file gives a bit more information. The DESIGN document details the design of dxpc.

3.9.2 is a minor release to clean up pidfile handling. It is compatible with all previous 3.9.x releases.
